Ramiro López-Ghio
Ramiro López-Ghio is the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) Group Representative in Colombia. An Argentine national, he brings over 15 years of experience in public sector development, urban sustainability, and fiscal policy across Latin America and the Caribbean. Before his current role, Ramiro served as IDB Representative in Belize and previously as Chief of Operations in the Colombia Country Office. From 2013 to 2020, he coordinated the IDB’s Emerging and Sustainable Cities Initiative, helping cities across the region adopt innovative, sustainability-focused urban planning models. He joined the IDB in 2008 as a Fiscal and Municipal Development Specialist in Bolivia, leading investment loan operations for national and subnational governments. Prior to joining the Bank, he worked with the World Bank and held senior roles in Argentina’s Cabinet Office and Presidency, focusing on governance strengthening. Ramiro holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics from the National University of La Plata (Argentina), a Master’s in International Political Economy, and a Ph.D. in Business from the University of Warwick (UK). He has published academic research and has lectured at various universities.
