Fabian Gerena is currently a Consultant for the Division for Natural Resources and Rural Development at the Inter-American Development Bank (IADB) in Colombia, where he serves as the focal point for the Sustainable Colombia Fund project portfolio and the technical implementation unit. Additionally, he is an assistant lecturer at Universidad de los Andes, where he teaches a course on territorial development With over 15 years of experience, Mr. Gerena has excelled in planning, monitoring, and executing projects related to national policies for sustainable development and social innovation. His career highlights include significant roles in both the public and private sectors, applying a territorial approach to lead impactful development and sustainability initiatives. Notably, Fabian has contributed to the Directorate of Climate Change at the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MADR), where he implemented effective climate change mitigation and adaptation measures in agriculture. His expertise extends to his role as Planning and Public Policy Specialist for the World Bank’s Biocarbon Project, where he developed strategies for emission reduction and integrated sustainability into land use planning. He holds a master’s degree in development project management from Universidad del Externado. He is also a Political Scientist with a focus on Government and a Professional in Foreign Affairs.
