Laura Ripani is the Chief of the IDB's Labor Markets Division. She specializes in the area of the future of work, with a particular interest in improving opportunities for young people. She has published extensively in academic journals on labor markets, social protection, and education. With more than twenty years of experience, Laura has developed an extensive network of international contacts in the public, private, and academic sectors and has become a thought leader for labor markets and the future of work issues. Before joining the IDB, she worked at the World Bank on projects related to the link between poverty and labor markets in Latin America and the Caribbean. She has a Ph.D. and a Master's in Economics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and a Bachelor's and Master's in Economics from the National University of La Plata, Argentina.
