Maria Jose Carreras
Maria José Carreras in an environmental specialist within IDB’s Environmental and Social Safeguards Unit (ESG), where she works making sure public investment projects across Latin America comply with the Bank’s social and environmental standards throughout preparation and implementation. Maria José has a Master of Science in Natural Resources from Cornell University, where she researched the role and performance of biodiversity offsets in Latin America. Before coming to the US, she worked in Peru for several years as an environmental consultant, leading numerous biodiversity assessments and impact studies focused on national and international compliance standards.
