Ana Milena Avendaño Paez

Ana Milena Avendaño Paez is a specialist in sustainable infrastructure and green buildings, with a strong academic background in bioclimatic architecture and sustainable design. She has over a decade of experience in consulting, project management, and technical advising, promoting the development of resource-efficient and low CO2 emissions buildings. Currently, she is part of the Social Infrastructure Group (GIS) at the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), where she works as a consultant specializing in sustainable infrastructure and green buildings. In this role, she provides technical advice and support for the incorporation and implementation of low-carbon, resilient buildings, assisting various IDB divisions and the governments of Latin America and the Caribbean in planning and executing investment projects that integrate climate change mitigation and adaptation measures, aligned with the Bank’s institutional commitments and the Paris Agreement. She has collaborated with international organizations such as GIZ, Swisscontact, EBP Switzerland, and the World Bank. Ana Milena holds a degree in Architecture from the National University of Colombia, a Master’s in Bioclimatic Design and Architecture from the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana in Mexico, and a specialization in Sustainable Design and Construction from Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico.
