Catarina trabaja en el diseño e implementación de proyectos de desarrollo internacional, en particular en temas relacionados con el desarrollo urbano y la integración de la perspectiva de género. Antes de trabajar como consultora en temas de género para la División de Vivienda y Desarrollo Urbano del Banco Interamericano de Desarrollo (BID), ella trabajó en proyectos de saneamiento e higiene con enfoque de género financiados por la Oficina de las Naciones Unidas de Servicios para Proyectos (UNOPS) y en proyectos participativos de mejoramiento de barrios precarios gestionados por el Programa de las Naciones Unidas para los Asentamientos Humanos (ONU-Hábitat) en varios países africanos. En Brasil, trabajó como asesora de cooperación internacional para el Gobierno del Estado de São Paulo en temas de desarrollo urbano y metropolitano. Catarina tiene una Maestría en Estudios de Desarrollo por el Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies, Suiza, y una Licenciatura en Relaciones Internacionales por la Universidad de São Paulo, Brasil.
