Salim Chanto is a research fellow in the IDB Research Department and a Ph.D. candidate in Economics at the University of Minnesota. His research interests are in the fields of macroeconomics, international economics, and firm dynamics. He holds a master's degree in Economic Theory from Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM) and a bachelor's degree in Economics from Universidad de Costa Rica.
