He leads the openIMIS Initiative team at GIZ’s Global Alliances for Social Protection. Since 2013, he has been designing and implementing digital tools and projects in health and social protection, with a strong focus on Digital Public Goods. In Nepal, Saurav led the Digital Health team under GIZ Nepal’s Support to the Health Sector Programme, where he supported the Ministry of Health in developing an e-Health Strategy and scaling up tools like openIMIS for managing the National Social Health Insurance scheme. As team lead of openIMIS, he oversees the global coordination desk, guiding the initiative’s strategic positioning, supporting country implementations, aligning software development, and fostering partnerships and knowledge exchange.

Open knowledge can be described as information that is usable, reusable, and shareable without restrictions due to its legal and technological attributes, enabling access for anyone, anywhere, and at any time worldwide.
