You know climate change is a real issue. You recycle whenever possible. You have a reusable shopping bag for groceries. You know about renewable energy.
But do you know what percentage of the world’s trash is recycled? What about how many turtles are killed because of plastic bags each year? Do you know what percentage of your country’s energy matrix is from renewable sources?
If you think so, or even if you would like to find out more, I invite you to download QuizUp for free and play the climate change topic against me and the COP20 attendees, live, from the first till the 12th of December.
For those of you wondering what QuizUp is, let me explain: it’s a timed trivia game played on cell phones or ipads. You and your opponent have 10 seconds to answer each question, and each round consists of 6 questions – so it only takes 1 minute for you to find out who’s boss. The great thing about this game is that you can chose who to play with (friends, family, or facebook friends) or let the app find a complete stranger who wants to play with you. As with most games this one has badges and levels and the questions are random, so it never gets boring.
I have to warn you- this is not a kids’ game, even though kids are invited to play. The questions are tough. Some have been developed by the game creators, others by enthusiastic users, and others still by companies such as Google and Coke. I can assure you that the questions of the climate change topic specifically are quite hard, as they were thought up by the climate change specialists of the IDB. I haven’t gone a game without getting at least a couple wrong. It is really fun.
To get to the climate change game just launch the QuizUp app, go to the science category and then choose climate change from the topic options. Depending on how well you play you could be the climate change leader in your city, country or, why not, the world!
So come on play and let’s find out what you climate I.Q. really is! You can find us under the username BIDcambioclima (visitors to the IDB’s booth in COP20 will also be playing under this username) .
