On August 9 we celebrate International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples, an international day currently observed by the United Nations which advocates for the rights of Indigenous Peoples.
At the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), we support sociocultural development processes that are appropriate to the economy and governance of indigenous peoples, giving priority to territorial and cultural integrity, to a harmonious relationship with the environment, and to security in the face of vulnerability, while respecting the rights of indigenous peoples and individuals.
On this International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples, we look back at a collection of previously posted blogs in Viva Sustainability. We hope you find these blogs insightful as we continue to support and safeguard indigenous peoples and their rights against adverse impacts and exclusion in Bank-funded development projects.
