María Alejandra has been a consultant in disaster and climate change risk since 2020. As a member of the Community Practice on Resilience, she works with teams to identify and address disaster and climate change risks through the project cycle. She is a civil and environmental engineer with experience in consultancy for environmental projects and disaster risk management. MSc in Civil Engineering in the area of Environmental Engineering and Management with emphasis in research (Universidad de Los Andes, Colombia) and MSc in Environment and Sustainable Development (University College London UCL). She has specific experience in hazard and risk assessment for drought, floods and volcanic eruptions for disaster risk modelling purposes for urban infrastructure and agriculture sectors.
