Ofer Malamud
Ofer Malamud is Professor of Human Development and Social Policy at Northwestern University. His research is focused on educational investments over the life course, the role of technology for the development of children’s human capital, and the effect of general and specific education on labor market outcomes. He has studied these topics in a wide range of institutional settings across countries such as Britain, Chile, Israel, Korea, Mexico, Mongolia, Peru, Romania, and the United States. His academic articles have appeared in the Quarterly Journal of Economics, American Economic Journal: Applied Economics, Review of Economics and Statistics, Journal of Public Economics, Journal of Development Economics, Journal of Human Resources, among others. His research has been covered by media outlets such as NPR, the New York Times, the Economist, and Forbes. He is also a research associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research and a member of the CESifo Research Network. Before joining Northwestern, he was on the faculty of the University of Chicago’s Harris School of Public Policy and a visiting fellow at the Brookings Institution.
