The Research Department of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) is seeking motivated, organized, and experienced research assistants to help produce data analysis of local economies in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Research assistants participate in groundbreaking research in areas ranging from education and the environment to banking, finance, and political economy. They typically advance to Ph.D. or master’s studies in highly ranked universities, including Harvard, MIT, Berkeley, and Columbia.
The selected candidates will get to work with some of the region’s top economists in an inclusive, collaborative, and rewarding environment during their 18-month experience in Washington, D.C. They will support research for academic papers, potentially including data collection and cleaning, as well as econometric analysis. They will also help prepare reports and presentations and provide support for project management or field experiments, among many other roles.
Candidates must have an undergraduate or master’s degree in economics, public policy or a related field and a strong quantitative background. They must also have at least two years of experience in applied research at a recognized university, research center or government agency, among other requirements.
