Fue subdirectora del Centro de Innovación Educativa de Brasil (CIEB) y anteriormente dirigió programas en el Ministerio de Cultura y en el Ministerio de Desarrollo Social de Brasil, trabajando también en la Alcaldía de São Paulo. Es maestra en Sociología por la London School of Economics and Political Science y licenciada en Ciencias Políticas por la Universidad de Brasilia.
