María Amelia Viteri
María Amelia Viteri is a Senior International Social Sector Specialist in the Environmental and Social Solutions Unit (ESG) of the IDB, specialized in gender, migration, diversity, and social inclusion. As a social scientist, she addresses the impact of inequalities and systemic violence on women, girls, LGBTIQ+, immigrants, indigenous peoples, and Afro-descendants in Latin America and the Caribbean. As an applied anthropologist, she leads the design and implementation of international projects following social and environmental policy standards, while developing knowledge products, dissemination, and training. María Amelia Viteri has a Ph.D. in Cultural Anthropology from American University, in Washington D.C., with a concentration in Race, Gender and Social Justice, as well as a Master of Social Sciences with a specialization in Gender and Development.
