Gmelina Juliana Ramirez

Gmelina Ramírez es responsable de impulsar la agenda de cambio climático y sostenibilidad en México, la más robusta del BID en América Latina. Se enfoca en la canalización de financiamiento climático a través de esquemas financieros innovadores (públicos y privados) a nivel nacional y subnacional en los sectores de agua y saneamiento, silvicultura y agricultura, y desarrollo urbano y vivienda. En esta posición conceptualizó dos oportunidades de financiamiento climático forestal exitosas y disruptivas que permitieron que ejidos en México accedieran a crédito formal para realizar actividades bajas en carbono en paisajes forestales. Antes de unirse al BID trabajó para el gobierno mexicano durante seis años como parte del equipo central que introdujo la agenda del cambio climático en el sector forestal del país. También participó activamente en las conferencias de las Naciones Unidas sobre Cambio Climático y Biodiversidad. Gmelina es mexicana y ha vivido en Ghana, Canadá y Estados Unidos y es licenciada en Economía y Recursos Naturales por Trent University, Maestra en Ciencias en Economía Agrícola por The University of British Columbia (Canadá) y egresó del programa LEAD-México de El Colegio de México.
