Hyunju has worked at the Ministry of Health and Welfare in Korea for 20 years and then joined the IDB. While at the Ministry of Health and Welfare, she gained experience in various areas such as social protection, healthcare, and child policies, including designing policies and establishing laws and regulations. She also handled international cooperation, regulatory reform, and legal support tasks. Currently, she is working at the IDB to share Korea's experience with Latin American and Caribbean countries. She is focusing on digital health and areas where Korea has strengths, such as long-term care, social security information systems, healthcare systems, and strengthening bio-workforce capabilities. She plays a bridging role between the Bank, LAC, and the Korean government and institutions. Hyunju graduated with a degree in Political Science from Seoul National University and completed her Master's in Human Rights at the London School of Economics.
