Cynthia van der Werf is an economist in the IADB's migration unit, where she works on projects related to migrants' social and economic integration. Through her work, she seeks to better understand the determinants and consequences of immigration. Before joining the IADB, she was an assistant professor at Louisiana State University. She holds a PhD in Economics from the University of California in Davis. She is also a scholar at the UC Davis Global Migration Center and the Economic Assimilation Research Network (EARN).
