Ms. Diletta Doretti was appointed as joint World Bank Group Representative for Guyana, as July 1, 2024, while also maintaining the function of World Bank Representative for Suriname. In this new capacity as World Bank Group Representative, Ms Doretti will bring a unified country-level leadership across the institution to better support Guyana’s public and private sector priorities and clients. Since joining in 2002, Ms. Doretti, an Italian national, has held various positions at the World Bank, including the most recent as World Bank representative for Guyana and Suriname, based in Georgetown, Guyana, and previously as Senior Private Sector Development Specialist for the World Bank West Africa region, based in Mali. Ms. Doretti has strong and diversified World Bank Group experience in leading teams and in corporate assignments, including country engagements, developing World Bank’s strategies around private sector, entrepreneurship and innovation. Ms. Doretti holds a Master’s degree in international economics from SAIS Johns Hopkins and Bachelor degree in International Affairs and Law from University of Florence.
