Reidar Kvam
Reidar Kvam is an advisor on social standards to the Inter-American Development Bank’s Environment and Social Safeguards Unit. Prior to joining the IDB in 2016, he was the World Bank’s Global Lead for Social Sustainability and Standards. He served as the World Bank’s lead technical specialist, advising management, staff and clients on strategy and long term interventions on policy and operational issues related to social sustainability and standards. In this role he coordinated a Global Solutions Group consisting of around 160 social development specialists in operational and analytical work related to social standards, and represented the World Bank in external partnerships around the social sustainability agenda. Before taking up the position of Global Lead at the World Bank, Reidar was Senior Manager at the International Finance Institution, IFC. He coordinated the development and stewardship of IFC's Sustainability Policy and Performance Standards, and led IFC’s engagement in the area of sustainability and risk management with other institutions such as the Equator Principles Financial Institutions, Export Credit Agencies, other Development Finance Institutions, and civil society. Reidar has a Ph.D. in Social Anthropology from the University of Bergen, Norway.
