Margarita Jiménez Vargas
Margarita is a public policy and development consultant with over 13 years of experience contributing to the design and implementation of policies and programs that support inclusive growth and sustainable development. She holds a degree in Political Science from Javeriana University in Colombia and a Master of Public Administration from the London School of Economics (LSE). As a climate change and natural resources consultant, she has led climate and environmental initiatives over the past five years at the Inter-American Development Bank. Worked as sectoral advisor at the National Planning Department, where she strengthened results-based monitoring and evaluation and supported the implementation of the SDG agenda in Colombia. There, she played a central role in coordinating the monitoring and evaluation of public policies, programs, and projects—enhancing evidence-based decision-making and public accountability across sectors. She also served as a private sector advisor at the Presidency of the Republic of Colombia, where she advanced rural development in conflict-affected areas by forging strategic partnerships with the private sector and aligning efforts with national peacebuilding priorities. Throughout her career, she has also worked as a consultant and researcher with private firms and think tanks.
