Enrique Ibarra

Enrique Ibarra Gené is a consultant at the Environment, Rural Development and Risk Management Division of the IDB where he works on a variety of themes including payments for environmental services, forestry and coastal zone management. Enrique studied economics at the University of Costa Rica and obtained a PhD in Forest Policy at the University of Freiburg thanks to the scholarships awarded to him by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the Heinrich Böll Foundation. Prior to joining the IDB he worked at the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES) in Japan and the Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR), based in Indonesia and Brazil respectively. When time allows, Enrique likes to go diving and take underwater pictures.

Enrique Ibarra Gené es consultor en la división de Medio Ambiente, Desarrollo Rural y Administración de Riesgos por Desastres del BID donde trabaja en una variedad de temas como el pago por servicios ambientales, la silvicultura y la gestión de las zonas costeras. Enrique estudió economía en la Universidad de Costa Rica y obtuvo un doctorado en Política Forestal en la Universidad de Friburgo, gracias a dos becas que le otorgaron el Servicio Alemán de Intercambio Académico (DAAD ) y la Fundación Heinrich Böll. Antes de unirse al BID, trabajó en el Instituto para las Estrategias Ambientales Globales (IGES ) en Japón y el Centro para la Investigación Forestal Internacional (CIFOR ), con sede en Indonesia y Brasil respectivamente. Cuando el tiempo lo permite, a Enrique le gusta ir a bucear y tomar fotos bajo el agua.
