David Maier
David Maier is a Social and Environmental Specialist at the Inter-American Development Bank’s Environmental and Social Safeguards Unit. Prior to joining IDB, David worked with the World Banks’ Environmental and Social Standards Advisory Team as a Safeguards Specialist for projects in East Africa, grievance redress and the preparation of the new Environmental and Social Framework. Before his assignment for the World Bank, David was a researcher at the London-based Overseas Development Institute (ODI) on topics related to climate change, gender-based violence and payments for ecosystem services. He has extensive experience in environmental economics and environmental and social safeguards, particularly in the field of resettlement, waste management, and environmental and social assessments. David holds a Master’s degree in Science (MSc) in Environmental and Development from the London School of Economics, UK (LSE) and a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Economics from the University of Trier, Germany. He is fluent in German, English, Spanish, and French.
