Sergio Lacambra

Sergio Lacambra es Especialista Principal en Gestión del Riesgo de Desastres en el Banco Inter Americano de Desarrollo, con 25 años de experiencia profesional en América Latina y El Caribe. Ha sido jefe de equipo de numerosos préstamos de reforma de políticas y de inversión en Perú, Colombia, Panamá, Bolivia y supervisa facilidades de crédito contingente para desastres naturales en Perú, Panamá, Surinam y Argentina. Actualmente coordina el clúster de gestión del riesgo de desastres de la División de Medio Ambiente, Desarrollo Rural y Gestión del Riesgo de Desastres. Fue responsable del equipo de expertos que diseñó el Índice de Gobernabilidad y Política Pública en Gestión del Riesgo de Desastres (iGOPP) y su aplicación en los 26 países miembros prestatarios del BID. Es co-autor de la metodología de clasificación y análisis de riesgos de desastres que el BID aplica a todos sus proyectos de infraestructura para garantizar su resiliencia. Antes de incorporarse al BID, Sergio fue responsable de todas las operaciones de ayuda humanitaria y de preparativos para desastres financiadas por la Unión Europea en Centroamérica (2004-2009) y Sudamérica (2001-2004). También se desempeñó como Director Nacional de una fundación privada (Ayuda en Acción) en Honduras (1997-2001). Comenzó su carrera profesional en la Amazonía brasileña, como economista ambiental. Tiene una Maestría en Economía por la Universidad de Londres, un Diploma Erasmus en Economía por la Universidad de Bristol (R.U.) y una Licenciatura en Ciencias Económicas y Empresariales por la Universidad de Zaragoza (España).

Sergio Lacambra is a Principal Specialist in Disaster Risk Management at the Inter-American Development Bank, with 25 years of professional experience in Latin America and the Caribbean. He has been the team leader of numerous policy-based and investment loans in Peru, Colombia, Panama, Bolivia, and supervises natural disasters contingent credit facilities in Peru, Panama, Suriname, and Argentina. He currently coordinates the Disaster Risk Management Cluster in the Environment, Rural Development and Disaster Risk Management Division. He was responsible for the team of experts that designed the Index of Governance and Public Policy in Disaster Risk Management (iGOPP) and for its application in the 26 IDB borrowing member countries. He is co-author of the disaster risk screening and analysis methodology that the IDB applies to all its infrastructure projects to ensure their resilience. Before joining the IDB, Sergio was responsible for all the humanitarian aid and disaster preparedness operations financed by the European Union in Central America (2004-2009) and South America (2001-2004). He also worked as National Director of a private foundation (Action Aid) in Honduras (1997-2001). He started his professional career in the Brazilian Amazon, as environmental economist. He holds a Master´s Degree in Economics from the University of London, an Erasmus Diploma in Economics from the University of Bristol (UK), and an Economics Degree from the University of Zaragoza (Spain).
