María Margarita Bahamón is an Economist from the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogotá and holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Alcalá de Henares in Spain. With over 12 years of experience in the field of environmental economics and the economic valuation of environmental services in Colombia, she has contributed to issues related to wetlands, climate change, and protected areas, among others. She has supported the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) as a consultant in the formulation of social and environmental methodologies, as well as in the development of economic and management instruments applied to sustainable finance.
