Juan Carlos Vasquez is an Industrial Engineer from the Dominican Republic currently working as an environmental and occupational health and safety consultant in the Environmental and Social Safeguards Unit (ESG) of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). Mr. Vasquez has a master’s degree in Environmental Management and Quality in Business from the European Postgraduate and Business Center (CEUPE) in Spain and a master’s in Occupational Health and Safety with an specialization in Workplace Safety from the Cartagena Polytechnical and Murcia University, Spain. In his role at ESG, he ensures safeguards are applied during the preparation and execution of projects in all sectors throughout Latin America and the Caribbean. Previously, he served as ESHS Manager in the construction and operation sectors in Central America, managing projects in compliance with the IDB, World Bank and European Union safeguards policies. He has over 10 years’ experience working to ensure compliance with international certification standards for environmental management and occupational health and safety. He is an advisor in the design and implementation of Occupational Health and Safety Programs. He was recently named the ESG “Champion” to advise on the redesign and implementation of the new IDB Occupational Health and Safety Policies.
