Jamie Cotta

Jamie Cotta is a Consultant in IDB's Environment, Rural Development and Disaster Risk Management Division, where she provides research and technical support for IDB’s work in the area of Environment and Biodiversity. She previously worked at Oceana, where she researched and prepared feasibility studies related to fisheries management and policy issues in Latin American countries. She received her PhD in Livelihoods and Natural Resources from the University of Copenhagen, Denmark and her M.Sc. in Interdisciplinary Ecology from the University of Florida. Jamie is a Southern California native who has enjoyed many years living in Latin America. Her greatest satisfaction comes from spending extensive periods in tropical forests collaborating with and learning from smallholders and local scientists.

Jamie Cotta es consultora en la división de Medio Ambiente, Desarrollo Rural y Administración de Riesgos por Desastres del BID donde proporciona servicios de investigación y apoyo técnico para el área de Medio Ambiente y Biodiversidad. Anteriormente trabajó en Oceana, donde investigó y preparó estudios de viabilidad relacionados con la gestión y asuntos de política pesquera de los países de América Latina. Recibió su doctorado en Medios de Vida y Recursos Naturales de la Universidad de Copenhague, Dinamarca y su master en ciencias sobre Ecología Interdisciplinaria por la Universidad de Florida. Jamie es del sur de California y ha vivido varios años en América Latina. Su mayor satisfacción viene de pasar grandes períodos de tiempo en bosques tropicales colaborando y aprendiendo de los pequeños agricultores y los científicos locales.
