Nora Lustig

Nora Lustig es Samuel Z. Stone Professor of Latin American Economics y directora fundadora del Commitment to Equity Institute en Tulane University, Nueva Orleans. También es Senior Fellow no-residente de la Brookings Institution, el Centro para el Desarrollo Global y el Diálogo Interamericano en Washington, DC. Lustig ha publicado más de 70 artículos y compilado o escrito más de 15 libros. Actualmente, sus proyectos de investigación se concentran en analizar los determinantes de la distribución del ingreso en América Latina, así como el impacto de las políticas fiscales en la desigualdad y la pobreza en países de ingreso bajo y medio. Entre sus publicaciones recientes cabe destacar Desigualdad y política fiscal en América Latina, Commitment to Equity Handbook: Estimating the Impact of Fiscal Policy on Inequality and Poverty, The Distributional Impact of Taxes and Transfers. Evidence from Eight Low- and Middle-Income Countries, Inequality in Mexico. Labour Markets and Fiscal Redistribution 1989–2014, The Strugglers: The New Poor in Latin America, Declining Inequality in Latin America: A Decade of Progress? Nora Lustig fue miembro fundador y Presidenta de la Asociación de Economía de América Latina y el Caribe (LACEA) y co-directora del Informe sobre el Desarrollo Mundial 2000 La lucha contra la pobreza del Banco Mundial. Asimismo, ha formado parte de la Comisión para la Medición del Desempeño Económico y el Progreso Social encabezada por Joseph Stiglitz y de la Comisión para la medición de la pobreza global dirigida por Anthony Atkinson. En la actualidad, es editora del Foro del Journal of Economic Inequality y miembro del Diálogo Interamericano. Nora Lustig obtuvo su Doctorado en Economía en la Universidad de California, Berkeley.
