Osmel Manzano
Osmel Manzano is Regional Economic Advisor in the Andean Group Department at the Inter-American Development Bank and Adjunct Professor at Georgetown and George Washington Universities. Previously, he held the same position for the Department of Countries of Belize, Central America, Mexico, Panama, and the Dominican Republic. He was deputy director and coordinator of the Research Program in the Public Policy Office of the Andean Development Corporation, where he was responsible for the institution's annual development publications and a biannual technical magazine. Previously, he was an analyst in the Office of the Chief Economist of Petroleos de Venezuela between 1991 and 1995. He is the author of several academic works and publications on development challenges in Latin America, as well as on the topic of natural resources and economic development. He has participated in various international conferences and has been invited to give presentations at various academic and policy forums. He was an adjunct professor at the Andrés Bello Catholic University (Venezuela). He was a visiting fellow at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. He has been a guest professor at the Institute of Associated Studies (IESA, Venezuela) and has also been invited to teach at the Catholic University of Peru and the Economic Faculty of Social Sciences, Ecuador headquarters. He obtained his Doctorate in Economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2000 and the title of Economist from the Andrés Bello Catholic University in 1993.
