Michelle Ramírez
Michelle Ramírez is a consultant on climate finance, decarbonization, and geothermal energy at the Inter-American Development Bank. Over the past fourteen years, Michelle has collaborated with governments in Latin America, Africa, and Asia, international and bilateral cooperation agencies, and multilateral development banks in the design and implementation of cutting-edge financing programs, public policies, and regulations for the energy transition and climate action, mainly aimed at foster geothermal energy and at the heavy industry decarbonization. Michelle was the first-ever Director of Geothermal Energy appointed at the Mexican Ministry of Energy (SENER), where her work attracted more than 565 million dollars to invest in geothermal power projects. She headed the Global Geothermal Alliance of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), growing its member countries from 46 to 52 and its partners from 42 to 56 within the first 12 months. Michelle holds a law degree from Escuela Libre de Derecho in Mexico, a postgraduate degree in Climate Finance and a Master of Business Administration from the Berlin School of Economics and Law (Hochschule für Wirtschaft und Recht Berlin). She also completed executive education programs in Energy Law, Gender and Law, and Human Rights. On a personal level, she is strongly committed to gender equality and is the Country Ambassador for Mexico of the NGO Women in Geothermal (WING).
