Martha Carvalho
Martha Carvalho has 16 years of experience in the energy industry, focusing on electricity. Her expertise spans the generation, transmission, and distribution segments and includes work in fast-growing Latin American markets, especially those with high shares of renewable energy. Martha is currently an Energy Consultant at the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). In this institution, she supports the origination, preparation, and execution of infrastructure financing operations and loans, enabling the design and implementation of public policies. Martha holds a M. Sc. degree in Energy Systems from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and is currently pursuing a D. Sc. degree in the same field. Before joining the IDB, Martha was the Head of Transmission and Distribution Studies at the international consultancy PSR. In PSR, she led a multidisciplinary team, executed projects in various technical areas, delivered transaction advisory, and supported public institutions in developing regulations and policies. Martha also acted as a professor in MBA courses.
