Sebastián González

Sebastián González Saldarriaga joined the IDB's Integration and Trade Sector (INT) in 2020, supporting various regional integration initiatives that are part of the Sector's approach. His research and operational work focuses on the IDB's Amazon Initiative, which aims to promote sustainable development models based on human capital, biodiversity, and the region's cultural heritage. Sebastián is also participating in a new project that analyzes the decarbonization potential of value chains in various countries. Previously, he was an advisor to the Office of the President of the IDB (2011-2020) and between 2006-2008 he worked in the Finance and Infrastructure Division as a research consultant. Before joining the IDB, he worked in the corporate areas of Grupo Pão de Açúcar in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Sebastian has an MBA from the Thunderbird School of Global Management, a BA in International Studies and Geography from the University of Miami (Coral Gables, FL). He has Certificates in International Business Management and Economic Development from Georgetown University and the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, respectively. He is a native Spanish speaker and is fluent in English and Portuguese.
