Mind the gap, Mind the gap … is a warning that the London Underground introduced in 1969 for passengers to be cautious of the gap between straight train cars and curved platforms. The gap between policy (where we want to go) and evidence (does it take us there?) can also be perilous.
Each year, billions of dollars are spent on programs and policies to address poverty without much evidence as to whether they work or not. A consortia that includes the International Initiative for Impact Evaluation Institute (3ie), the Inter-American Development Bank and others, is organizing “Mind the Gap: from Evidence to Policy Impact” a conference that will take place in Cuernavaca, Mexico June 15-17, 2011.
Over 400 researchers, policy makers, program managers and evaluators coming from all over the world including Latin America will be attending.
The conference program aims to reduce the gap between policy and evidence, providing a platform to share and discuss on how to achieve evidence based policy making and hopefully bridging the gap.
