The IDB Open Data Usage Survey is back and your perspective is the missing piece. Two years ago we we conducted the first edition of this survey, and now we want to update ourselves on how you and your organization use data, what works for you, what doesn’t, and what you need to make the most of it.
At the IDB, we’re committed to open data as a vital source of knowledge for our Region, and your voice will help us continue to move forward. Your experience is key in helping us improve how we share data and in strengthening the data ecosystem of Latin America and the Caribbean.
Over 740 data professionals shared their valuable perspectives in our first Open Data Usage Survey. The results painted a clear picture: roughly 90% of participants claimed to depend on data analysis every day, and expressed high demand for data related to economics, education, and social development. We also learned that even with the increasing availability of advanced tools, their preferred method of data extraction was still overwhelmingly manual downloads, though the use of APIs and ETLs is on the rise.
These findings were essential in guiding advancements of IDB Open Data over the past two years, culminating in the launch of our new Open Data Catalog. Now, we’re eager to learn what’s changed and how we can continue to support you and provide relevant data. You are cordially invited to participate in this edition of the Open Data Usage Survey. Invest about 15 minutes of your time between now and July 16th, and your perspective will make a real difference. Have your voice count, and together we’ll keep moving forward.
Once you’ve completed the survey, you’ll have the option to receive an open digital badge that certifies your contribution to strengthening the IDB’s open data practices. This recognition also symbolizes your active support for developing and enriching the open data ecosystem in Latin America and the Caribbean.
