Let’s Pivot Together With Your Big Ideas

September 6, 2020 by Musheer Kamau Leave a Comment

Have you ever thought of a way to make your country better? Perhaps you had an experience and it made you think of something that could be done to transform the way we live. That idea is exactly what fuels the Pivot Movement. We want you and your ideas to help create a plan for the future of the Caribbean.

As partners in development, we have known for some time that to survive the Caribbean must change. And we also know that our change must be coordinated and focused for it to be effective. That’s why the Pivot Movement focuses on three areas of development: electric vehicles; digital transformation; and re-imagining tourism.

The Inter-American Development Bank and its partners The Caribbean Climate-Smart Accelerator; Singularity University and Destination Experience have teamed up to launch the Pivot Movement which will unfold in two parts:

1.           The Pivot Idea Search (September 2- September 18, 2020)

The Pivot Search is the crowdsourcing competition that feeds into the Pivot Event. We are inviting anyone from anywhere to submit ideas. We will ask the public to vote on three winners who will each win 5000 USD and join The Pivot Event guest list. Submit your idea here by September 18, 2020.

2.           The Pivot Event (Five sessions from October 15- October 30, 2020)

For five days in October we will host The Pivot Event, where we will bring thought leaders, innovators and entrepreneurs into a single virtual space. Under the guidance of our partners from Singularity University, we will consider the big ideas for electric mobility, digital transformation and re-imagining tourism. Then together, we will create a manifesto of nine moonshots (or big ideas) and a roadmap for how they can be achieved. Request an invitation to the Pivot Event here.

After the event, we want to keep the movement going. Keep following, and we’ll show you how these ideas develop over time.

Big ideas can come from anyone anywhere. We encourage you to share your big ideas with us. The future of the Caribbean depends on your innovation and creativity. Let’s Pivot together!
