Some say that the big international summits like the one that just took place in New York are all talk and little action.
But some important commitments came out of the UN Climate Summit:
Uruguay will reduce its emissions by 85% by 2030.
Chile will use a 45% or green energy by 2025.
Costa Rica will generate 100% of its energy from clean sources by 2016.
Mexico will cover one third of its electricity demand from renewable sources by 2018.
Brazil will submit a National Adaptation Plan this year.
Peru has just signed an agreement to reduce deforestation and to make its forest and agriculture sector carbon neutral by 2021.
