Senior Education Specialist
Javier Luque is a Senior Education Specialist. He has worked extensively in the fields of education, labor markets, and economic growth, both in academic and policy making capacities, throughout Latin America and East Asia. He has published articles, book chapters, and co-authored books, and has been a speaker at conferences around the world. Prior to joining the IDB, he held positions at the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, the Ministry of Economics and Finance of Peru, and the Central Reserve Bank of Peru. He has taught undergraduate and graduate levels at the Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Peru, the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos, and the University of Rochester, among others. He holds a Masters and Doctorate in Economics from the University of Rochester (New York) and a Bachelors in Economics from the Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Peru. He has also participated in research at the Center for Research on Education Outcomes (CREDO) at the Hoover Institution of Stanford University.
