Start writing today and share your thoughts on the Inter-American Development Bank’s (IDB) Let’s Talk Climate Change and Sustainability blog.
This is your chance to spread your ideas internationally! You can write about a success story in sustainable development, green initiatives, innovation, or climate change adaptation projects in your country. The topics and approach are open, but the content must be based on scientific knowledge and include references to the sources used.
December 1st 2014 at 2:00 pm, Washington DC time (EST)
The contest is open to all citizens from one of the IDB member countries. IDB Group employees and their first-degree relatives are not eligible to enter the contest. We will only consider up to two (2) entries per participant.
To enter the contest, participants are required to present a Word document that is:
- About topics related to climate change and sustainability.
- Written in one of the following official languages of the IDB: English, Spanish or Portuguese.
- The post must be original and not previously published.
- It needs to include references with links to scientific articles that demonstrate the accuracy of the content.
To participate, just send an email titled “Bloggers Contest” to firstname.lastname@example.org. In order to be eligible, all entries must also include the following information:
- An entry in Word document of no more than 600 words, and a brief biography of the author of no more than 180 words.
- Two links to articles showing her/his previous experience as a journalist or blogger (optional).
- Photos or videos with copyright (optional).
Winners and Prizes
The IDB will select one winner and between five and ten finalists who will be invited to become guest authors of the Let’s Talk Climate Change and Sustainability blog. Their entries will be published in the blog and the biographies of the winners will be highlighted. The winner will also win a GoPro Hero3+ camera.
The jury will include a team of public policy and strategic communications specialists from the Climate Change and Sustainability Division of the IDB.
The list of winners will be made public on the contest’s website on December 1st, 2014.
By submitting an entry, each entrant: i) represents and warrants to Sponsor that his/her entry is original; ii) waives all moral rights, if any, in and to his/her entry in favour of Sponsor; iii) grants Sponsor an irrevocable, non-exclusive, assignable, sub-licensable, paid-up, worldwide license to use, reproduce, communicate, distribute, edit, adapt, copy and otherwise use (“Use”) all or any part of the entry for any purpose relating to this promotion or any other advertising conducted by or for Sponsor for any purpose; iv) represents and warrants to Sponsor that he/she has obtained all permissions and clearances necessary to grant the licence to Sponsor set out above and for Sponsor to Use entrant’s entry; v) represents and warrants to Sponsor that Sponsor’s Use of his/her entry will not infringe the intellectual property or other rights of any third party; and vi) agrees that, at the sole discretion of Sponsor, entry may be posted on the Sponsor’s website or any other website, as is or may be edited for content and/or length. All entrants will be required to sign a Declaration confirming the above statements. Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to edit any entry deemed to be obscene, defamatory, unlawful or otherwise inappropriate in nature or content.
